President Bola Tinubu has directed the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) to ensure all Nigerians are enrolled in the national identity database before the end of 2025.

The directive was disclosed by the Director-General of NIMC, Abisoye Coker-Odusote, during an interview on Channels Television.

According to her, the order is part of efforts to strengthen national planning, improve governance and enhance service delivery.

Coker-Odusote said the Commission is collaborating with partners under the World Bank-supported Identification for Development (ID4D) project to accelerate enrolment across the country.

She explained that the National Identification Number (NIN) guarantees that each citizen is captured only once, adding that the exercise will help establish Nigeria's actual population while curbing multiple registrations through biometric verification and improving identity security.
