The Osun State branch of ‘Nigeria Prays’ has scheduled a three-hour intercessory meeting to ask for divine help toward a peaceful governorship election set for August 15 in the state.

A release issued by the Planning Committee Chairman, Bishop Adesola Olubadejo, stated that the event will take place on Saturday, July 12, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. at Covenant of Peace Redemption Ministries, Owode Ilesa.

The release appealed to all stakeholders, especially political groups, to put aside party differences and participate in prayers for a violence-free election.

“This isn’t about one political party or another. This is about Osun and the future of our young ones. We’re inviting every political party in Osun, regardless of affiliation, to unite and pray for a calm and peaceful gubernatorial poll,” Bishop Olubadejo said.

The prayer gathering will run under the theme ‘Light Must Shine’, taken from Matthew 5:11 in the Good News Bible.

According to the organizers, the theme was chosen to highlight the need for truth, fairness, and openness to guide affairs in Osun State and across Nigeria.

“Nigeria, and Osun specifically, has faced difficult periods. But we are convinced that when light appears, darkness retreats. We are praying for God’s light to shine over Osun before, during, and after the election,” the Bishop added.

‘Nigeria Prays’ was founded in 1996 by General Yakubu Gowon, GCFR (Rtd). The initiative grew from a desire to respond to Nigeria’s problems through continuous prayer and intercession.
