Inna Lillahi Wa Inna Ilayhi Raji'un.

With a heart filled with grief and total submission to the will of Allah, I mourn the passing of a great Islamic scholar, mentor, and father figure, Sheikh Sirajudeen Akanni Asukuna, who returned to his Creator on Tuesday, July 28, 2026.

The news of his demise came to me as a painful shock. Beyond being a renowned Islamic cleric, the Founder and Grand Amir of the Hizbullahi International Prayer Outreach Ministry, and the Amir Zakireen of Oyo State, Sheikh Asukuna was a source of encouragement and inspiration in my journey of Da'wah.



I had the rare privilege of being invited by the Sheikh to participate in his annual Islamic programmes, where I benefited immensely from his wisdom, humility, and unwavering commitment to the propagation of Islam. Those moments remain among the greatest blessings Allah granted me.

One piece of advice from the Sheikh changed the course of my life. He encouraged me to establish my own Asalatul (Islamic society) and dedicate myself to organized Da'wah. With Allah's help and inspired by his counsel, I founded Amurullah Islamic Da'wah. Today, more than a decade later, the organization has grown with branches in Ikirun, Ilesa, and several other communities, touching lives through Islamic teachings and community service. This lasting legacy is a testament to the vision and encouragement of our beloved Sheikh.

His departure is not only a loss to me personally but also to the Muslim Ummah in Nigeria. We have lost a scholar whose life was devoted to calling people to Allah with sincerity, wisdom, and compassion. His teachings, mentorship, and exemplary character will continue to live in the hearts of all who knew him.

On behalf of my family, Amurullah Islamic Da'wah, Agunbe Radio/TV, and JAF Vocational Training Centre, I extend my heartfelt condolences to his family, the Hizbullahi International Prayer Outreach Ministry, his students, followers, and the entire Muslim Ummah.

I pray that Allah (SWT) forgives all his shortcomings, accepts his countless good deeds, enlarges and illuminates his grave, and grants him the highest station in Al-Jannatul Firdaus. May Allah also grant all of us the strength and patience to bear this irreparable loss.

Indeed, righteous scholars may depart from this world, but their knowledge, guidance, and noble legacy continue to illuminate the path of generations yet unborn.

May Allah have mercy on Sheikh Sirajudeen Akanni Asukuna. Ameen.
