The Management and entire team of Agunbe Radio/TV have joined the Muslim Ummah in mourning the passing of renowned Nigerian Islamic scholar, Sheikh Sirajudeen Akanni Asukuna, who returned to his Creator on Tuesday, July 28, 2026, after a brief illness.

Sheikh Asukuna was the Founder and Grand Amir of the Hizbullahi International Prayer Outreach Ministry and the Amir Zakireen of Oyo State. He devoted his life to the propagation of Islam, spiritual guidance, and the development of the Muslim community, leaving behind a legacy that will continue to inspire generations.

His passing is a profound personal loss to the Founder and Director of Amurullah Islamic Da'wah, who regarded the late Sheikh as a mentor, father figure, and source of inspiration.

For many years, Sheikh Asukuna graciously invited the Director of Amurullah Islamic Da'wah to participate in his annual programmes, where they shared the platform in the service of Islam. Their relationship was built on mutual respect, brotherhood, and a shared commitment to Da'wah.

Beyond these invitations, Sheikh Asukuna played a significant role in shaping the vision of the Director by encouraging him to establish his own Asalatul (Islamic society). Acting on this sincere counsel, the Director founded Amurullah Islamic Da'wah, which, by the grace of Allah, has grown steadily for more than a decade with active branches in Ikirun, Ilesa, and several other communities.

The Director described Sheikh Asukuna as a man of wisdom, humility, and unwavering dedication to Islam, noting that his advice and encouragement laid the foundation for a mission that continues to touch countless lives today.

As the Muslim Ummah bids farewell to this distinguished scholar, Agunbe Radio/TV prays that Allah (SWT) forgives his shortcomings, accepts his noble deeds, grants him Al-Jannatul Firdaus, and comforts his family, followers, students, and the entire Muslim community during this difficult time.

Indeed, to Allah we belong, and to Him we shall all return.
